Such a close match at Queen of the Court, and everyone looked so athletic in their sneakers!

Jackie and Emily took home the victory with an 11-9 win over Julie and Amanda at the Queen of the Court event down at Pints & Paddles, and I'm just so proud of all four of my darlings for getting out there and moving around!
Now, Julie had herself a bit of a day with the line calls, didn't she? She kept hollering "out!" to Amanda on balls that were actually in, which reminds me of when I thought my reading glasses were dirty but really I just needed a stronger prescription. The optometrist was so nice about it, didn't make me feel silly at all.
"I honestly thought I was helping," Julie said after the match, looking a bit sheepish. "Amanda probably wanted to strangle me by the end."
Amanda was gracious about the whole thing, though you could see her shoulders tensing up every time Julie opened her mouth in the second half. "We'll work on our communication," Amanda said diplomatically, which is such a grown-up way to handle things.
Jackie and Emily played so well together, like they could read each other's minds! Jackie told me afterward that they'd been practicing their coordination, and it really showed. Emily had some beautiful volleys that made that little plastic ball go exactly where she wanted.
The venue was lovely, too. I do appreciate when these places have good lighting because it helps everyone see properly. Maybe that's something Julie should think about for next time, along with perhaps standing a little further back to get a better view of where the ball lands.
I made my famous snickerdoodles for after the match, and everyone said they were delicious, even Julie who I think needed a little comfort food. She'll get those line calls sorted out, I just know it. Next time will be even better! Has anyone seen if it's supposed to rain this weekend? I need to know if I should water my tomatoes.
